Azra Riaz’s father taught her the Alif Bay of the classical music and she used to work hard on her riaz and the taans. But the period when Azra Riaz was growing up, belonged to Mehdi Hassan. He was the rage in those days. So, her inclination was more towards ghazal than in classical singing.
